With its distinctive look and purpose, it’s no surprise that this Local Alcohol Rehabilitation Center also had a special set of circumstances surrounding its construction. Located at Sky Harbor International Airport’s development site for an International Guard facility, Modular Technology had only 165 days to design, build, and install a new LARC at a new location. Eminent demolition of the old facility necessitated a strict timeline, leading the City of Phoenix to choose Modular Technology for its accelerated commercial construction method. Not to mention that they received a new, larger facility at practically half the cost of traditional site construction.

Comprised of 29 modules, the sheer size of this 20,000 square foot modular building will make you sit up and take notice. Its interesting use of color and design lend visual interest to its mass, while giving this detoxification facility a comfortable and inviting feel. The 14-foot-high ceiling in the dining area — accomplished by raising the roof assembly on site with a crane — and state-of-the-art security system are among its technical innovations.

The stucco and steel exterior is highlighted by a radius wall and brightly colored door and wall accents. The interior of the building features a meeting hall, an ADA-approved full commercial kitchen and cafeteria, detoxification rooms, ADA-approved bathrooms and showers, and medical quality equipment and fixtures. The interior courtyard provides an aesthetically appealing haven for long-term residents.
