Mike Morton, President
Always an entrepreneur, Mike combined his degree in Civil Engineering with real-world business knowledge to start Modular Technology in 1984. His experience as a Technical Support Coordinator for an international modular dealership and as a Steel Designer & Engineer for Bechtel Corporation gave him a solid foundation for striking out on his own in the modular building industry.
Mike developed Modular Technology into a fully integrated design build firm to provide accelerated construction that reduces construction time by 50%. Mike continues continue to lead the company to pioneer methods to create architecturally diverse and functional facilities that offer quality that surpasses conventional construction while providing our clients with the advantage of speed to market. A well-known face to all clients, Mike is active in all aspects of Modular Technology including sales, engineering, project management and construction.
In 2005 Mike’s vision was recognized with the Business Journal’s Arizona Corporate Excellence Special Award for Innovation.

Doug Hensley, Vice President
As Vice President, Doug is involved in all aspects of the company, including sales, engineering, project management, and construction. He is particularly strong in value engineering and estimating.
Doug has a strong background in both sales and construction. He served as branch manager and a major projects sales engineer for a same-industry firm before joining our company in 1989. His tenure provides a brain trust of information on past projects, lessons learned and cost data that adds value to current and future project design, planning and construction.

Linda Wickham, CPA, Vice President
As Controller, Linda is both the finance and personnel manager. After four years with a Big Five accounting firm, Linda developed her own client base, which focused on the construction industry, and now applies her more than 20 years of knowledge and experience to our firm.
Linda manages the accounting staff and is responsible for overseeing and certifying all billing, payroll, and payment applications. Her expertise and experience allows the Modular Technology team to have up-to-date cost information and cost control.

Brian DeMoss, Vice President of Field Operations
Brian oversees the site development and construction of each project at Modular Technology. He has worked in the modular industry for over 21 years; and has been with Modular Technology since 1993.
To ensure that every project meets scheduling deadlines, Brian works closely with each superintendent. Superintendents oversee site preparation, subcontractor management, and quality control from the projects inception to certificate of occupancy. Each project is assigned a field superintendent, no matter how remote the location. This “hands on” approach ensures exceptional quality control and an outstanding finished product. Brian and his ever-present companion, Hank, regularly visit each site to support the superintendent in achieving the accelerated schedule.

Craig Sorenson, Vice President of Sales and Marketing
Craig oversees public and charter school projects in Arizona. He is the former President of the Humboldt Unified School District Board, which gives him a unique understanding of school needs, especially rural schools. He is an active member in Arizona educational organizations.
Craig has an entrepreneurial background, having owned a factory-built building dealership and construction company in Prescott Valley, Arizona for 12 years.
Modular Technology is a member of United States Green Building Council (USGBC) and Craig is the LEED Accredited Professional. The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System™ is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high performance green buildings.

Sam Tomlin, Vice President of Project Development
Sam has a wide range of experience from 13 years as Vice President and Owner of Urban Tech.
He is relied on for liaison, design, and site plan approval through the various governmental agencies. Sam identifies “red flags” during the due diligence period and throughout the project which could be detrimental to the project’s development. Their early identification minimizes project delays and difficulties. He is skilled at negotiating solutions to complex development problems and creating win-win solutions.
Sam has become the charter school expert understanding the idiosyncrasies of financing, building, and expanding charters.

Joe DePalo, Vice President of Construction Operations
As Vice President of Construction Operations, Joe acts as liaison between project management, clients, senior management and subcontractors, while managing coordinators, project managers, and construction support staff. He assists in maintaining budgets and schedules, and consults on electric issues and estimating using his background as a licensed electric contractor.

Catherine Walley, Director of Marketing
Catherine brings more than 20 years marketing and business development experience in the architecture, engineering, and construction industries in the Phoenix market both as an employee and a consultant. She has conducted seminars and training on public speaking and best practices for winning public sector jobs including team interview strategy and preparation, individual presentation skills, and, feedback and debriefs. Catherine is responsible for branding, advertising, public relations, promotions, publicity, and client relations. She joined Modular Technology in 2004.

Bob Mattheis, Project Manager
Bob is a veteran of the U.S. Army Security Agency. With both residential and commercial experience, he has served as both a Field Superintendent and a Project Manager for Modular Technology, with an emphasis on management and design & planning. His 32 years of experience in the industry, including ten years as an independent building contractor, have proved invaluable to clients, other project managers, superintendents and management. Bob is the “go to guy”.
As Project Manager, Bob coordinates all aspects of the building’s construction. His responsibilities include all sub-contractor relations including contracts, scheduling, and meeting the project budget. Bob also selects the superintendent based on experience and qualification. The involvement of the Project Manager will remain a constant for the entire duration of a project providing the owner with a senior point of contact throughout the process.

Robert Croteau, Project Manager
Robert joined Modular Technology in 2000 working as a superintendent on projects such as the very notable Ocotillo Hall classroom addition to Estrella Mountain Community College. He showed his tenacity and commitment by building this 33,500 square foot classroom in a record 60 days from arrival on site to opening doors for students. Robert was also responsible for the 5,000 square foot Bank of America that was built in only 29 days. His record is Moya Elementary School at 55,000 square feet in 57 days. These feats and his easygoing style make him a prime selection as a Project Manager.
Prior to joining Modular Technology, Robert spent 10 years with a site build contractor as a carpenter and superintendent.

Ken Mattheis, Plant Manager and Warranty Fulfillment
Ken is responsible for the 20-acre facility, craftsmen, and subcontractors where the buildings are constructed. He manages all phases of each building’s construction while it is at our facility and coordinates with the Project Manager and Architect to insure the building are on schedule, budget, and built to specifications.
Ken has 15 years construction experience specializing in building productive rapport with governing bodies, vendors, clients, and contractors. He shares his expertise in team building strategies and techniques as a corporate trainer.
Ken’s skill sets include project scheduling and planning, on-site supervision, design and specification review, client negotiations, project reporting and compliance reporting, material flow, and human resource management.
He worked in Europe, Asia, Mexico and the U.S. as the V.P. of Technical Operations managing a highly technical team in the construction of magnetic coating manufacturing facilities where he implemented numerous process improvement measures leading to cost and labor savings.
Ken attended Yavapai College, Phoenix College and ASU, as well as studied abroad.

Joe Brennan, Estimator
Joe has 20 years experience estimating and project management in commercial, residential & remodeling construction, including owner & subcontractor negotiations, conceptual budgets, takeoffs, hard budgets, purchasing, contract procurement, scheduling and monitoring all work from start to closeout including customer orientation. He has managed office and field personnel.
He has 10 years experience as an owner & operator of a construction remodeling business.
Joe’s communication skills allow him to work successfully with owners, architects, engineers, contractors, subcontractors, city officials, and owner’s agents.

Dave Sanchez, Project Manager
Dave’s prior experience in the field with a modular company and as Engineering Manager at Modular Technology made him a perfect choice to join the Project Management team. He joined Modular Technology’s Architectural and Engineering team in 1995 and led a team of ten Designers responsible the creation of construction documents from architects’ conceptual drawings; coordination with engineering sub-consultants, and preparation of submittal packages to plan review agencies. Dave assisted superintendents and subcontractors during construction with field questions. His experience and knowledge of the drawings gives him an advantage in the field in interpreting drawings and communicating with the owner and subcontractors.

Jack Stuhan, Quality Control
As a design-build firm, we are particularly aware of the value of quality control. Because of that, Jack is involved in all phases of project development, from design to manufacturing and construction.
He is ICBO (International Conference of Building Officials) certified as a UBC (Universal Building Code) Building Inspector and is responsible for maintaining Modular Technology’s national reputation for superior quality.
