Modular Technology wins the 34,000 square foot Estrella Mountain Community College Classroom Building

Modular Technology press release, September 5, 2005

In a qualifications-based process, Modular Technology was selected to design build the first project, representing $3.1 million of the $951+ million bond fund approved in the 2004 election. The building will accommodate 700 - 1,000 students, faculty members and support staff.

The Governing Board approval was July 26, 2005 and opening day is January 17, 2005 for the Spring 2006 semester. Modular design build construction was selected because of the 5-month design build schedule, unachievable with conventional construction — which would require 12-18 months to complete the project.

The architecture will complement the existing campus and will include outdoor social and learning spaces, similar to other buildings on campus.

Modular Technology, teamed with The Orcutt/Winslow Partnership as design architect, was selected for our slab-on-grade accelerated construction technology — which produces structures identical in quality and permanance to site-built; as well as for our long affiliation with The Orcutt/Winslow Partnership, spanning 12 collaborative projects for design build educational facilities.

Modular Technology, founded in 1984, is a fully integrated design-build company and is the largest commercial contractor in Arizona specializing in design-build school construction. More than 85 school districts and 20+ charter and private schools have worked with Modular Technology. For over 20 years we have supplied educational, financial, commercial, and medical facilities to clients throughout the southwest. National clients, such as Bank of America and Wells Fargo, have built more than 50 permanent branches with Modular Technology in the past 8 years.
