With an aggressive design build schedule of only five months, the choice was clear: the first Maricopa County Community College District bond election project was awarded to Modular Technology. The $3.1 million building was awarded July 26, 2005 with opening date January 17, 2006.

Modular design build construction was selected because of the five-month design build schedule, unachievable with conventional construction, which would require 12-18 months. Only Modular Technology’s accelerated commercial construction could realize the schedule while providing a building identical to site built construction.

Modular Technology, teamed with The Orcutt/Winslow Partnership as design architect, was selected for our slab-ongrade accelerated construction technology which produces structures identical in quality and permanence to site-built.

Other selection factors included our long affiliation with Orcutt/Winslow, spanning 12 collaborative projects for design build educational facilities.

The building, accommodating 700 – 1,000 students and integrating the newest technology and learning space design, includes:

  • 22 learning studios
  • informal learning area
  • faculty and adjunct faculty offices
  • offices for support staff
  • formal & informal conference rooms
  • support area
  • two courtyards
