NORTHEAST VALLEY - New site for Polaris

Polaris High School, the district's alternative high school, has a new home. For the past few years, Polaris has shared space with Paradise Valley High School. This year, Polaris will have its own building next to the district office, near 32nd Street and Greenway Road .

The new Polaris High School is housed in a 15,000-square-foot building by Modular Technology.

The gray brick structure was brought to its location in pieces, Assistant Superintendent Skip Brown said. It cost $1.8 million and has 10 regular classrooms and two large halls.

The new building does two things for the district, Brown said. It creates a place of their own for the Polaris students and it opens needed space at Paradise Valley High School .

This isn't the first time the district has used this type of building. In recent years, modular units have been placed at Campo Bello, Cactus View and Indian Bend elementary schools.
