Modular Technology building second Traditional Academy for Chandler Unified School District Modular Technology press release, February 15, 2005 Modular Technology President and Founder, Mike Morton, announced his firm is building a 46,600 square foot Kindergarten - 6th grade elementary school for the Chandler Unified School District. The new Freedom campus is the second Traditional Academy, which focuses on a back-to-basics curriculum. The first traditional campus, Liberty, was 36,000 square feet with a 10,000 square foot classroom addition needed after the first year due to student demand. The Freedom school is being built under the Design Build delivery method using Modular Technology's accelerated construction process because of schedule requirements. The time between contract signing and occupancy by teachers and staff is 5 months with school starting July 15. Using "traditional" construction, the process would have taken 14 -18 months. Modular Technology's accelerated construction allows for a parallel process where the infrastructure and buildings are constructed simultaneously reducing the time to market by 50%. Modular Technology develops the site, infrastructure, and concrete slab while the steel frame building is constructed with 80% of the plumbing, electrical, HVAC, & drywall are installed at Modular Technology's north Phoenix facility. The buildings are disassembled into "modules", shipped to the site, craned into place, bolted to steel plates embedded in the concrete slab, and finished within 60 days. The "modules" are currently scheduled to begin to be craned into place April 24. The Freedom campus, located in Shamrock Estates, Gilbert, will accommodate 700 students and features:\
